Starcitizen is pay to win

After reading Chris Roberts reply's, I believe he has no idea what he is doing any more. What he said was insulting to the player base.
' It is an open-ended Persistent Universe Sandbox that doesn’t have an end game or a specific win-state. ' - Chris Roberts
Player A engages pay to win Player B. Player B will always win in the end as they will throw money at the game until they win.

A loss to Player A costs more than a lost to Player B.

When you boil down all of Starcitizens non-existent game play this is what your left with. This is the only win state worth a dam.

The game is completely over for me, its pay to win garbage that you usually get in a 'free' to play game.

Star Citizen Multicrew demo

Better demo than what has been shown recently but after arena commander, is any of this going to work in the real world. Eg, the helmet never worked when it was in Arena Commander for me, was always invisible.

Arena commander access

I got my invite today.

Am I going to play, NO

Why, because the downloader just wants to such all my data away and I have much better things to do than download 10gb patches ( then 2gb patches, then 7 gb patches to remove the 2gb you just downloaded )

I don't have unlimited data.

I rather play elite which is doing 17mb patches !

Star Citizen Arena Dog Module Commander Fighter on the 29th

Maybe,

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/13883-Arena-Commander-Weekly-Report-May-12-16

I don't know, does seem like they are trying to beat Elite. Just the difference is this is the first game play piece of code from RSI where Elite has released 4 alpha builds.

What I am trying to say is I don't have my hopes up that they will release the Arena Commander game on time.

Not that I am worried, I'll be playing Elite instead, unless, it gets delayed as well !

Starcitizen Pax Demo

This is the first real playable footage from Starcitizen and visually it looks great. There is some nice features being showed.

I like that they are trying to tackle the bane of Online space combat and that is endless turning fights. The G-Force mecanic is a good feature to tackle this issue.

When playing online space combat, the entire game becomes trying to get in behind your target. As that is what your target is doing, the whole thing is like when a cat  chases its tail. In a Aircraft combat simulator this doesn't happen as much. There is still turning duels from time to time but as your turn your aircraft you spend speed energy to change direction. Eventually you can bleed enough speed that you stop flying and start spinning then hit the ground.  Space doesn't have this problem. Singleplayer combat doesn't have this issue as the AI will opt for more of a 'Zoom and Boom' tactic. Racing away from you at full speed ( as usually its balanced they are faster ) then turning and coming head on.

The other issue is that there isn't alot of substance in this demo. They dressed it up really nice but you are just flying in a box.

Unfortunately, the demo isn't available at all to backers. This seems a bit weird to me as I expected access to all content no matter what state it was in. Backers will get a different version of the game 'in the following months'.

EvE Valkyrie

Stay away from this game, its EvE desperately trying to combat with other titles but not realising why people want to play theses other titles.

In a recent interview Valkyrie sounds like its going to be like Dust and there is a good chance that it will release on consoles first. Even though its built for the Oculus Rift.

RPS: So EVE and Valkyrie are both PC games, but Dust is – for now, at least – only on PlayStation…

Reid: Hold on a second, we haven’t confirmed that Valkyrie’s on PC. It’s capable of playing on PC right now, but we haven’t confirmed what we’re going to launch it on.

While there  is nothing technically stopping the rift from working on a console except  the Oculus rift as it currently stands is very low res. They are talking about doing 4k screens for the release version which will solve so many problems. Just you need something that can handle 4k res at over 60fps.

The Rift needs a high frame rate, otherwise it breaks the immersion. This is why Doom 3 BFG runs at 120FPS for the Rift.

The diffrence on running the rift on my Home pc vs my slow not game tuned work PC is night and day.

Next Gen Consoles have already stated they are targeting 30fps at 1080p.

This is not good enough for the rift. While I can see them doing 720p at 60fps, it will be upscaled.

Lastly there history of creating features and leaving them for dust ( pun >.< ) goes back to the creation of EvE.

This game will not stop people from playing StarCitizen or Elite. At its best it will feel like the space combat of SW:TOR, tacked on mini game.

UPDATE:

News came out today that that PS4 can render at 1080p at 60fps in games like Call of Duty, I can't comment on the Xbox One as microsoft are refusing to let people compaire the two consoles.

Does this change much for the rift ?

With the current dev kit that runs at 720p, it means you might get a decent frame rate on the PS4 but I still don't expect it to work well at a 4k res unless it was a basic game rendering wise.

Just got my brochure for the 300i from ORIGIN Jumpworks

Right at this minute the engineers at ORIGIN Jumpworks are hard at work producing the ship i ordered. In the coming months I'll be able to visit the hanger and take a look over it myself and hopefully, so long as things stay on schedule, a test flight at the end of the year.
And remember, the next generation is now.

Star Citizen: Vanduul race

The Vanduul concept art has been released for Star Citizen. This is most likely the Kilrathi shaped pilot from the trailer. At least they look better than the Kilrathi from the terriable Wing commander movie.

Still I would like them to look less like walking corpses as they look a bit too close to the lizard like Xi'An.

Star Citizen: Walking on spaceports

I am kind of stunned that the concept art for this is now a 3D model. These guys aren't lazing around:

Kilrathi in Star Citizen ?

Looks like a Kilrathi. I really hope that they are in the game, I wouldn't mind a name change. They are the greatest enemy in Wing Commander and really add flavor to the war. I couldn't stand the Nephilim from Wing Commander 5, they were boring and generic and so I never finished that game.

So hopefully the Kilrathi return.

Star Citizen: Xi’An

The first alien race of Chris Roberts: Star Citizen has been announced. A lizard looking race called the Xi'An.

Now they just need to add a race based on the Kzin, maybe Kilbathi or Purathi or something =P

Chris Roberts is back

And he gets what is wrong with gaming theses days:

“In recent years, game designers have stopped innovating and pushing the boundaries of what you can do in this genre,” says Roberts. “I plan on bringing that kind of development mentality back into PC gaming and space sims in particular. "
