ElderScrolls Online: Summerset

I almost wrote this off as, more elf, expansion, then they showed Razum-dar. So now I am sold.

But what is with the cheap sound track. That chanting which seems to be built from a sample pack that everyone uses. This is what I mean:

Another Example:

Also the almost Destiny 2 chanting at the end.

Anyway doesn't matter, Razum-dar !

Elder Scrolls Online Drops Subs

I have to thank ZeniMax for stopping me in making a huge mistake of getting this at launch. Thanks to them lumping my part of the world in with Europe and the euro, thus making this the most expensive MMO ever to subscribe too thanks to exchange rates I never got the game.

Will I try it when it goes subless ?

I am not sure, it seems like the whole company was running a pay to beta for the console versions and if at the console launch this becomes hugely popular you can bet the PC version will be put on the back burner.

The only thing that interest me is the WvWvW aspect of the game, but I currently have this, in a much better game.

Also ultimately this game fails to capture what Elder Scrolls is about

Confirmed: Kiwi's pay euros for Elder Scrolls Online subs

I have read some disturbing rumors that New Zealand customers are being charged Euro's for a Elder scrolls subscriptions.

To us this is the diffrence of paying $17.95 for a game to paying $21.95. Thats one less cup of Coffee a month !

While not alot this is a very disturbing trend and is greedy way of scooping the pool for more money. We already pay more for box releases, the game itself is selling here for $75 USD.

I have emailed ZeniMax for a offical responce and will post the results here if any.

Update:

This has been confimed by ZeniMax:
At this time Currently, players located in New Zealand will be prompted to purchase the game in Euros. If we are able to support alternate currencies such as the New Zealand Dollar, we'll update the storefront at https://account.elderscrollsonline.com for the appropriate regions.
The diffrence here is after a few months you have accually payed them for a month of usage that you don't get. This is not acceptable.

I like how they completely avoid the orignal question about why USD is not a option.

The Elder Scrolls Online NDA

Has been lifted, the flood tides have been released. Seen nothing that interests me in the game. Call me once it goes free to play / buy to play.

Elder Scrolls Online to have Microtranstions

"There won't be anything like 'bonus points,' but we'll have a shop to buy kind of fun stuff, and services too, like name changes and things like that. But it's not part of the core game. Like, anything in the core game is included in the subscription price."
Defnition of 100% is a little diffrent to them than to me. Keep spinning that spin and bring on the $25 horse armor !

The Elder Scrolls Online subscription ensures players get '100% of the game'

I am posting this here, so that if the game has a cash shop, I can reference this later quote:

When you're in an Elder Scrolls game, you're in a world. We don't want players to hit monetization fees when they're in the world. It's like, I go into a dungeon, if I don't have access to the dungeon it pops up a window: you don't have access to this, go buy 50 credits. We didn't want that experience. That's not an Elder Scrolls experience.
I have yet to play a FP2 game that has any sort of popup that requires you to buy something to play game content. The only game I know which does this is Dungeon & Dragons Online.

100% of the game means no cash shop to me. but then there is this quote:

"We wanted to do monetisation outside of the game. So, if I pay for a month at a time, I have 100 per cent of the game. I don't have to worry about paying one more cent. I'll never run into a pay gate and I'll be in the world."
Wanted to do monetisation outside of the game ? Still going to ?

I guess we will have to wait and see.

Elder Scrolls online to have a subscription

We're building a game with the freedom to play - alone or with your friends - as much as you want. A game with meaningful and consistent content - one packed with hundreds of hours of gameplay that can be experienced right away and one that will be supported with premium customer support. Charging a flat monthly (or subscription) fee means that we will offer players the game we set out to make, and the one that fans want to play. Going with any other model meant that we would have to make sacrifices and changes we weren't willing to make.
Well, thats easy to say, but will you do it ?

The bar has been set by the free to play / subscription less games.

Guildwars 2:
Content updates every 2 weeks which include new areas and dungeons. As well as new gameplay.

Star Trek Online:
Content updates every 1 - 2 months. Free Expansions that double the size of the game and completely redo the experance.

Ever MMO contains hundreds of hours of gameplay, the free ones  even more. Subscriptions just mean you can get a burst  of income for the first 2 months. Once people blow though all your content in a week they will unsub and then you can go Free to play.

Make sure you launch with a in game Store as well to sell the new content for maxamin profit  along with the subscription !

First person back in TES:O

The beta / alpha / test is floating around the internet and news sites are reporting that First Person mode is back.

This is one step forward but still not enough for me to get excited about it again. They would have to dump the idea of Zones / Quest hubs / Factions and every single other gated MMO experance and make it more open to the player before I jump into the game.

Big annoucement of the day

The elder scrolls online will not have a first person view.

The reasions are retarded:
“The main difference here is that in an online RPG, enemies can spawn in a 360 degree radius around you, especially in PvP,” Frior told Digital Spy. “So third-person view mode, if you use it, will give you a far greater ability to see enemies behind you. In many situations, this will be the difference between living and not surviving a combat sequence.”
Vanguard has a first person view where you can see your hands / legs etc. It is amazing for immersion. I expected that this would be a area Elderscrolls online would follow but instead they push towards more carbon copy mmo style game play.

Planetside 2 has shown that you can play a action based FPS MMO and not suffer much from the effects of lag, even from remote country's like my own. Sure its not perfect but it I can still be competitive.

Elder Scrolls online is nothing more than a money grab and I will not be touching it.

Elder Scrolls Online

Developed by the team at Zenimax Online Studios, The Elder Scrolls Online merges the unmatched exploration of rich worlds that the franchise is known for with the scale and social aspects of a massively multiplayer online role-playing game. Players will discover an entirely new chapter of Elder Scrolls history in this ambitious world, set a millennium before the events of Skyrim as the daedric prince Molag Bal tries to pull all of Tamriel into his demonic realm.

"It will be extremely rewarding finally to unveil what we have been developing the last several years," said game director and MMO veteran Matt Firor, whose previous work includes Mythic's well-received Dark Age of Camelot. "The entire team is committed to creating the best MMO ever made – and one that is worthy of The Elder Scrolls franchise."

An in-depth look at everything from solo questing to public dungeons awaits in our enormous June cover story – as well as a peek at the player-driven PvP conflict that pits the three player factions against each other in open-world warfare over the province of Cyrodiil and the Emperor's throne itself.
