Nexus the jupiter incident: update

Nexus the Jupiter incident got a update on steam and is currently only a few bucks to buy. I had been meaning to try the game again but didn't like the idea of installing from disk and then trying to patch it.

The patch improves multiplayer and adds support for large screens. As well as a ton of other fixes.

Hey now the dream is over

Everquest next has been cancelled. Not that we couldn't see this coming after daybreaker took over and John Smedley left.

It was one of the last ambitious mmos left that was tiring to break the mold of quest hub tours.

All that's left is Shroud of the Avatar and crowfall, except crowfall is starting to sound like a shin kicking PvP only mmo that wants to be eve online with weird mechanics.

Landmark devoplment will continue but it's such a wasteland. It's map generation is just predictable snore feast and there is no urgency to build, no game.

I am glad I no longer waste any money on daybreaker titles. I almost got h1z1 but it's pay to win drama stopped me, also the bait and switch to a bit too play game with cash shop just left a bad taste in my mouth.

X Rebirth mods

X Rebirth wasn't that great at launch. I saw potential in it but it was just a bit buggy. Anyway with the release of the DLC Home of light it got me looking into the game again and I found this:

This is how i imagined cap ships would be like before the game is released. It looks like a fantastic mod.

Blog neglect

I have been neglecting this site for a while now because I am now posting crap on twitter and discord. I need to put more effort into posting things on here.

Just I have this internal rule set on what this sites theme is and posting endless kitten gifs isn't one of them.

I'll brain storm on new ideas for this blog that isn't just game trailers.

The price of games vs value

I recently read a good post about how a $20 is worth it for a Indy title:

http://gamasutra.com/view/news/266482/Steam_dev_argues_why_his_game_is_worth_20.php

But then after seeing how long Super Hot is its got me wondering on price vs value.

To me, Super Hot is just not worth the $35 NZD asking price. Its a 1.8 hour game which never really challenges you with its story campaign in stead goes into the challenge mode after finishing what is essentially a tutorial.

It has interesting mechanics which aren't really explored to full potential. Its visuals are basic and so is the audio. So it got me wondering, where is the value.

On the flip side I recently got the Indy series Distant Worlds for $50 NZD. It is a game with a squinty UI and basic 2D graphics yet offers so much value for game play. Games can last months there is a lot to do and learn.

To me a game needs to last around 10 hours or longer. Its price doesn't matter to much. This is what value is to me.
